I began cultivating my understanding of body dynamics at age 15, as a Kung Fu student. This ancient Chinese martial art is closely related to Daoist thought, the philosophy upon which Acupuncture was developed. The literal meaning of Kung Fu is: skillfulness acquired through endless practice, an approach that still guides me in my quest for ever-growing expertise.
Soon after arriving in the United States, I started a three-year Masters of Science program at the Tri-State College of Acupuncture (TSCA). My background included studies in Psychology, Shiatsu, and Reiki, but with acupuncture I felt an immediate connection and I realized, from day one, that this would become my Kung Fu. I found a medical method that was concrete, precise and full of insights into human complexity, and at the same time, an art that is ever-evolving and relevant to modern life’s challenges.
I graduated with honors, and soon after joined the TSCA staff as a faculty intern, teaching needling techniques and strategies to second-year students. In 2011, after relocating with my family from New York to Miami, I joined the Canyon Ranch Miami Beach team. As a firm believer in an interdisciplinary approach to health, I joined the Integrated Physical Therapy and Wellness team in 2012. In 2016 I opened a space at the Miami Causeway Square building. I am board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
My varied background informs a unique approach to acupuncture and to needling style, with great attention to bodily, emotionally and mentally felt changes. I see only one patient at a time, and I take my time with my patients, as the release of holding patterns and the softening of the body-armor can be a very profound experience.
"When the healer gives from where there is none, he can only give that much. But if the healer heals his spirit, mind and soul, which is the home that he resides, he can give so much. Because the healer's quest is not to heal a stranger, The healer's quest is first and foremost to heal himself, his home, and then a beggar. The healer pays for past life struggles. The healer suffers from Demons in the current. But if the healer is healed, then he can be of service to others, and the earth will sigh with great relief" - Tao Te ching
